I asked my students the following questions and here below are some of the insightful answers I received from them
How do memes universally impact our visual language? Use examples!
"In the past before language, people used pictures to communicate with others. This is a tradition that remains today. Through social media, people share their favorite memes and pictures with an intent to make others laugh or to lightly spread an important message. For example, the “Lisa” and “Hard to Swallow Pill” memes are used to spread important messages, whereas the “Drake” and “Kermit” memes are used mostly for fun. These memes, and hundreds of others, give people a common ground to relate to."
How does the spread and use of memes impact culture?
"The spread of memes impacts culture by giving people a universal language. Through text, talk, and social media, people are able to communicate on an equal platform. They can share political meme or fun memes. They both help to bring people together on similar issues, and helps us to associate pictures with meanings. For example, when you see a red cross, you associate that with first aid, and when you road signs, you associate that with certain meaning."
Why do you believe they are important? Use examples!
"Memes are important because it gives younger generations some exclusivity, and it allows us to connect with others with ease. "

They overall came up with some interesting messages, I did my best to not limit their creativity, but I did say they needed a message to their work. Unfortunately for me I underestimated their creative humor and got many of these.
All jokes aside, I think they really got the hang of creating satirical content to understand the purpose of culture jamming!
