The assignment
In the beginning of art 2 before the art department and I have ordered supplies with student fees, we have decided that the best way to start off the semester in art two is to introduce an observation drawing from common items that every student will have, aka shoes and a pen. The assignment is simple, create an interesting composition with your shoes or a pair you choose to bring in, draw and shade with pen. This is a refresher in value as well as composition and is a great way to gage the classes understanding. This is the finished product of the first project of the semester!
